SOUTH PHILADELPHIA – March 11, 2014 (WPVI) — Police say a 24-year-old woman was shot in her bed in South Philadelphia early Tuesday morning.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on the 2200 block of Sears Street.
According to police, someone broke into a house through the front door and headed to a front bedroom.
The victim told police she was sleeping and awoke to find a masked man standing over her.
Police say the suspect shot her twice in the back.
The victim managed to get to a neighbor’s house to call medics.
She was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Police say the suspect fled on foot without taking anything from the home.
An investigation is underway.
